Lymphadenectomy in Esophageal Cancer – European Perspective – Suzanne Gisbertz

In this session, Dr. Suzanne Gisbertz presents the European perspective on lymphadenectomy, focusing on variation in surgical techniques and clinical practice across the region. Drawing on data from a Dutch pilot study, she explores lymph node distribution patterns and the prevalence of metastases both above and below the diaphragm. The presentation highlights the complexity of standardizing lymphadenectomy approaches and discusses current research efforts aimed at optimizing extent and technique in European surgical oncology.

Also included are surgical videos showing the abdominal and thoracic parts of lymphadenectomy.
