Endoscopic Interventions and Medical Therapy – A GI Perspective – Rehan Haidry

Dr. Rehan Haidry, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Cleveland Clinic London, presents a gastroenterology-focused perspective on the endoscopic management of esophageal anastomotic leaks. This session reviews contemporary therapeutic endoscopic techniques, including argon plasma coagulation, endoscopic suturing, and endoluminal vacuum therapy. Dr. Haidry discusses patient selection, timing of intervention, and the role of medical therapy in supporting leak resolution. The presentation underscores how endoscopic approaches can be tailored to leak characteristics and institutional expertise.

This presentation was part of the webinar on When Anastomoses Go Wrong: Mastering Leak Management After Esophagectomy held on December 18, 2025. Moderated by Monisha Sudarshan and Ernest Chan the webinar ended with a brief panel discussion and responses to audience questions.
