In this presentation, Dr. Omar Awais, complex redo esophageal surgeon at UPMC, provides a comprehensive overview of esophageal anastomotic leaks following esophagectomy. The session reviews definitions and classification systems, highlights key patient- and procedure-related risk factors, and explores differences between cervical and intrathoracic anastomoses.
